Students in debt

The scholarship includes a meal share that is provided in the form of a service, i.e. it entitles the student to one free meal per day and a second meal at a reduced rate at university canteens and/or affiliated centres.

For this reason, in the event of forfeiture or revocation of the benefit (see art. 25 of the a.y. 2025/2026 Competition Notice), students are required to reimburse the monetary value of the meals consumed.

How is the debt calculated?

The calculation is based on the meals consumed from 1 November 2025 onwards and consists of the difference between what was actually paid as a “scholarship winner” and what was due in the correct tariff band.

Let’s take an example:

You have received notification that your scholarship has been revoked.

Based on your ISEEU/ISEEUP, your tariff band should have been “band 1” and you should have paid £3.00 for each meal; instead, you had your first meal for free and paid £2.50 for your second meal of the day.

Again, hypothetically:

If, since 1 November 2025, you have consumed 100 meals for free, you will have to repay €300.00 (€3.00 – €0.00 = €3.00 multiplied by 100 meals).

If, since 1 November 2025, you have also consumed 100 second meals at a price of £2.50, you will have to repay an additional £50.00 (i.e. £3.00 – £2.50 = £0.50 multiplied by 100 meals).

The total amount of the refund relating to the catering service debt that you will be required to pay will therefore be £350.00.

Aliseo will contact you by email at the address you provided, informing you of the revocation number, the reasons for revocation and the refund procedure.

Please note!
Until you pay your debt, you will be considered a “studente debitore” (student in debt) and will not be able to use the service or apply for benefits (see Article 9 of the 2025/2026 Canteen Provisions).
